MYOBLATE in Panama: first radiofrequency ablation cases for uterine fibroids

Panama marked a new clinical milestone in minimally invasive gynecology with the launch of MYOBLATE™ and its first procedures. Specialists and hospital teams gathered to apply the technology under ultrasound guidance and institutional protocols.

MYOBLATE uses radiofrequency energy to produce focused thermal ablation in selected uterine fibroids. The electrode is positioned under ultrasound visualization and energy is directed at the target tissue according to specialist planning and judgment.

The first cases at Ciudad de la Salud included Drs. Ricardo Mastellari, José Luis Oviedo and Bat-Ireedui. The activity combined clinical support, knowledge transfer and team familiarization with the radiofrequency platform.

Dr. José Luis Oviedo, a gynecologist specializing in infertility, participated in the procedures performed during this initial stage. Coordination among specialists, operating-room staff and technical support was key to integrating the technology into the clinical workflow.

The experience also included the first MYOBLATE case at Hospital Materno Infantil José Domingo de Obaldía, expanding the institutional reach of this minimally invasive option in Panama.

Indication depends on individual assessment, fibroid characteristics, symptoms and reproductive goals. MYOBLATE must be used by trained professionals in accordance with instructions for use, applicable regulation and institutional protocols.
