Dr. Elías Atencio performed the first VertiBlate™ case in Panama, marking a new stage in interventional management of vertebrogenic low back pain in selected patients.
VertiBlate enables controlled thermal ablation of the basivertebral nerve through a minimally invasive transpedicular approach. The anatomical target lies within the vertebral body and requires planning, image guidance and specific training.
During the session, Dr. Fabián Piedimonte of Argentina demonstrated transpedicular access and the technical sequence used to position the system before radiofrequency delivery.
Patient selection is essential. Assessment considers clinical history, persistent axial low back pain, imaging findings and exclusion of other dominant pain sources.
Akromed supported this first experience with technical assistance and clinical coordination. Adding a new technology requires integrated training, supplies, protocols, follow-up and clear indication criteria.
VertiBlate is intended for professional use. Treatment decisions belong to the specialist and must follow the instructions for use, applicable regulation and institutional protocols.
